VoluntEErs. La serie. – Chapter one: The on arrival training

European Solidarity Corps. When a new adventure starts, everyone is full of enthusiasm, new expectations and wishes.
This is the feeling of our volunteers: they come from different countries in Europe and from the first day of September started a new adventure in Spain!

22 volunteers, 9 countries, 5 hosting organizations.
From Italy, France, Germany, Bulgaria, Russia, Tunisia, Netherlands, Austria and Poland, they met each others two months ago and started to work together in 5 different ESC project in Mundus’ office or in organizations with the aims to help children, people with disabilities or fever opportunities.

It is like the stage of a movie and every one could be the protagonist! The title of the first chapter is: OAT - On arrival training.
From the 21th to 26th of October, our 22 volunteer were in Girona for the OAT “On Arrival Training”. The training aimed to help them to understand what are expectations, opportunities and wishes of their own ESC projects.

All the days were full of activities and they were engaged in talking about different topics, such as team building, the rights and duties of volunteering and what are the purposes of the Erasmus+ programs
Moreover, it was a great time to learn more about history of Spain and Catalonia and to explore the beautiful city of Girona, his culture and his traditions. A volunteer is not a tourist and  learning what are the feeling of Catalan people (especially in this particular historical period), understand what they care and what are their traditions and holiday celebrations are another important thing to do for living in a foreign country in the best way.

On the other hand, this week was very important to think about what was the path taken so far and start to write the next steps of this adventure, asking “what I want to do for the next months, how I could help my organisation and how I could improve my personal and professional skills”

For the next adventures, follow our social networks and the stories highlights “Volunteers. La serie” on Instagram!
