European Solidarity Corps vacancies. Mundus Association is looking for 22 ESC volunteers 18-30 years old for a long term European Voluntary Service project which will take place from September 2019 to June 2020 (10 months) in Barcelona and surrounding areas.


Location: Barcelona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelona), Province of Barcelona (Mataró, Sabadell), Province of Girona (Blanes) and Province of Tarragona (Reus)

Dates: September 2019 – June 2020

Profile of candidates:

-Young volunteers (18-30 years old) resident in a Program or Partner Country.

-Able to communicate in Spanish (English is an extra)

-Motivated, sociable, proactive, open-minded, tolerant, creative, self-reliant person.

-Someone who has no problems with sharing a flat/room with other people.

-Someone who does not want to come to Barcelona or Catalonia for holidays

Description of the project and coordinator

Mundus Association is an organization that manages mobility opportunities for young people and promotes volunteering, values-based education, intercultural learning and non-formal education in the local community. Our main office is located in the youth centre of Santa Coloma de Gramenet, a town next to Barcelona (20 minutes from city centre by Metro) but we cooperate with different organizations in different locations.

This volunteering project is a long term ESC designed to enable European Volunteers to develop their personal and professional skills through helping in different local projects and activities.

Placements for voluntary service

1.Asociación Mundus – Santa Coloma de Gramenet (3 volunteers) - CLOSED APPLICATION

The volunteers will help Mundus team (in our office in Santa Coloma de Gramenet) in three different departments mainly (Communication, Strategic Projects and VET), and will support other projects when needed and according to the interest and competences of the volunteer.

1 Volunteer with Communication team:

  • Create and Design Social Media campaigns, posters, flyers, etc.
  • Write weekly articles for the website to promote international mobility (English or Spanish)
  • Support promotion and dissemination of Erasmus+ projects and European opportunities
  • Photo and Video shooting and editing in our local events (pre-departure trainings, volunteer promotion events, etc.)
  • Bring new ideas and energy to the team

1 Volunteer with Strategic Projects management:

  • To complete/support administrative tasks, such as research, proofreading, content creation, etc.
  • To develop reports and correspondence independently.
  • To support new projects set up and take off and support preparation of documents.
  • To prepare presentations and reports
  • To support the communication tasks connected to European projects such as writing articles, managing Wordpress websites and communicating with partner organizations.
  • To bring new ideas and vision to the team.

1 Volunteer with VET department

  • To complete any necessary administrative tasks, such as managing European tools and complete students files.
  • To develop reports and logistic independently.
  • To support new projects set up and take off and support preparation of documents.
  •  To participate in presentations and talks
  • To support the communication tasks of the department

It is suggested to have a good level of Spanish and English, or be willing to learn very fast, in order enjoy the experience in these two departments.

2. Fundación Mans a les Mans – Barcelona (3 volunteers) CLOSED APPLICATION

Volunteers will take part in daily activities of Fundación Mans a les Mans for children with fewer opportunities of La Marina de Port (a neighborhood of Barcelona). The activities are related with homework support, social integration and leisure time activities (sports, arts & nature). These activities take place every day from Monday to Friday in the afternoon. It is very important to have, at least, a good level of spoken Spanish in order to communicate with the children.

3.El Faro Centre Obert - Santa Coloma (3 volunteers) CLOSED APPLICATION

This youth center also offers different activities, workshops and social attention to youngsters and children in risk of exclusion (fewer opportunities). In this case they are looking for somebody who has or wants to have experience in social work. You will help the social and youth workers carrying out the daily activities of El Faro Centre Obert and different workshops in the afternoon (from Monday to Friday).

4. Fundació Eveho - Sabadell, Blanes, Mataró, Reus (7 Volunteers) OPEN APPLICATION

The volunteers will live and carry their activities in different centers in Catalonia.

Participation and creation of new workshops for the development of resources for teenagers and young people. - Participation and organization of cultural activities and "colonies" for the users of the center. - Management and coordination of the garden that takes place in the centers with the different adolescents and young people. - Realization of audiovisual material of the activities and events that take place within the entity. - Coordination and realization of creative activities with the educator of the center for the users of the same. - Participate in the accompaniment of adolescents and young people in the center. Creation of routines, monitoring of users, school reinforcement, visits to the library and eating habits. - Creation of innovative activities (through music, theater and different arts) to perform with adolescents and young people. - Help in the direction of sports and outdoor activities with the users of the center. - Collaboration in the T-Jove program, to design work insertion itineraries for young people. - Collaboration in the workshops and courses organized by the association of “ex-tutelados” (UJEC)

Accomodation: 2 volunteers in Mataró, 2 in Blanes, 1 in Reus, 2 in Sabadell. The accommodation will be flats shared with other volunteers inside the different centers: CRAE (Residential Center of Educative Action) or youth residence. Possibility of shared rooms.

5.Fundació Tallers de Catalunya – Santa Coloma de Gramenet (6 volunteers) OPEN APPLICATION

The volunteers will help in the activities with intellectual disability people. They will take part in many activities, for example; Mindfulness, computing, endorphins, cooking, swimming, library, emotion management, various sports, gardening, assembly, aging transition, radio, hydrotherapy, karate, moviterapia, amongst others. The methodology of the activities is different, the objective is giving people the same opportunities, improving inclusion, well-being and self-determination.

Common activities

All the 22 volunteers will have the opportunity to develop their own personal projects and will carry out some common activities (already implemented by former EVS volunteers) in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Sabadell, Tarragona or Girona, depending on the project placement.

For example: language and culture courses for youth and the “Lingüistic Café”. Moreover, they will have the chance to be part and help in some of our workshops, events, meetings and projects with the local and international community.

ESC Conditions

This project is founded by the European Commission through the European Solidarity Corps programme. The project covers:

-Travel costs (up to the limits established in Erasmus+ Guide distance calculator).

-Monthly food + pocket money: 280€ approx.

-Insurance (included in ESC).

-Possibility of joining language course of Spanish/Catalan (classroom or online).

-Local transport, when it is needed for the volunteering activity.

When will you know the results of the selection process?

We will receive Application Forms from candidates until 28th of June. After that we will have Skype meetings with the participants that match with the requirements and select the volunteer so he/she can start at beginning of September. We will only consider candidates who send the form within the deadline.
